Colombian musicians including Shakira, J Balvin and Maluma have used their public platforms to rally support for victims of a devastating earthquake that struck the country. The 7.4-magnitude quake, centred near San José del Palmar in the Chocó department, caused widespread damage and casualties, prompting an outpouring of solidarity from the nation's most prominent entertainers alongside calls for donations and practical help.
The earthquake caused collapsed buildings, injuries and deaths across several cities, including Cali, Armenia, Manizales, Pereira and Quibdó, with the death toll reported at more than 111. Shakira, J Balvin and Maluma each posted messages of strength and solidarity, while artists such as Karol G, Ryan Castro and Manuel Turizo shared donation links for the relief organisation Colombia Se Levanta.
