Former Conservative MP David Warburton, who quit politics in 2023 amid allegations of sexual harassment and cocaine use, left an estate worth just £97,639 when he died aged 59 at his home in Chelsea Harbour. He had rebuilt his career after the scandal, becoming chief executive of Capenex Energy, and a coroner ruled his death, discovered on 26 August, was from natural causes and not treated as suspicious.

Warburton represented Somerton and Frome from 2015 until his resignation in June 2023, having been suspended by the Tories in April 2022 after a staffer made sexual misconduct and bullying complaints against him. He admitted taking cocaine but denied harassment, and an appeal panel later ruled the original investigation was flawed. His will, signed five months before his death, left his estate of £138,867 (£97,639 after deductions) in trust to his daughter Cecily, son James and brother Richard; he is also survived by his wife, Harriet Baker-Bates. Before politics, Warburton founded a ringtone company in 1999 that he sold in 2008.
