Walmart discounts physical Metroid Ravenous preorders ahead of January launch
Walmart is offering a discount on physical preorders of Metroid Ravenous, the upcoming side-scrolling instalment in Nintendo's long-running franchise for the Switch 2. It marks the series' return to its classic 2D format for the first time since 2021's Metroid Dread, making the preorder saving a modest but notable incentive for fans wanting a physical copy ahead of its release.
The physical edition is priced at $59.88, down from $69.99, bringing it roughly in line with the digital version's cost, though it is unclear how long the offer will remain available. Metroid Ravenous is due out on 28th January 2027 and was unveiled at Nintendo's September 2026 Direct, with a trailer showing protagonist Samus using powerful new abilities gained at the end of Dread to fight her way off a planet; further story and gameplay details have not yet been revealed. Separately, Nintendo's "Customer Appreciation" sale, running until 26th September, includes a discount on Metroid Dread and other games and accessories.
