Sheffield United have signed experienced forward Jordan Ayew on a contract running until the end of the season, adding a player with significant top-flight and international pedigree to Chris Wilder's squad. The 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Leicester City following the club's relegation to League One, and his arrival gives United more attacking options after a career spent largely in England's top two divisions.

Ayew, who has 124 caps for Ghana and captained his country at this summer's World Cup, joined Aston Villa from Lorient in 2015 and has since spent 11 years in the Premier League and Championship, including a spell at Crystal Palace. Wilder praised his experience and versatility across the front line, noting he performed well for Leicester last season "in difficult circumstances" despite their relegation.
