Sheffield Digital Policy Roundtable #4
Sheffield’s fourth Digital Policy Roundtable brought together people from the city’s digital industry, universities and economic development to discuss how local, regional and national policy affects technology businesses. A recurring concern was how to turn ambitious strategies and investment into practical opportunities that smaller firms can access, while supporting inclusive growth.
Held on 15 July at Leah’s Yard under Chatham House Rules, the meeting covered regional funding, national industrial and digital policy, skills, recruitment and business support. Discussion included South Yorkshire’s integrated settlement, the future of TechSY, links between manufacturers and digital firms, and ways to connect students with employers through placements and apprenticeships. Participants also considered how Sheffield’s strengths in manufacturing, semiconductors and research could build a stronger local business base.
