Sheffield Hallam to guarantee paid internships for graduates – Times Higher Education
Sheffield Hallam University will guarantee a paid internship to eligible graduates who are not in employment or further study 12 months after completing their degree. The pledge is intended to strengthen graduate employability support at a time when many new graduates face a difficult transition into work.
The scheme applies to UK students beginning eligible three- or four-year undergraduate courses from September 2026 who successfully complete their degree and engage with the university’s careers service. The university says 95% of its graduates are in work or further study 15 months after graduation, meaning the guarantee targets the remaining group needing additional support.
- Eligible unemployed graduates will receive a paid internship.
- The guarantee starts with students enrolling from September 2026.
- It applies after 12 months outside work or further study.
