Plans to redevelop the derelict Sheffield Ski Village site are continuing, more than a decade after the venue — once the world's largest dry ski slope centre — was left abandoned following arson attacks in 2012. New Zealand-based Skyline Enterprises is now working towards transforming the site, with the scheme bolstered by nearly £20 million secured from the Government's Levelling Up Fund in 2023 to help clear the land, repair fire damage, upgrade infrastructure and remove invasive vegetation that had built up during the years of neglect.

Skyline's proposals include luge runs, downhill karting tracks, a zipline and a surf pool, with a new dry ski slope also being considered as a possible later phase, though details on that remain limited. Skyline chief executive Geoff McDonald said Sheffield was seen as "the ideal city" for the company's next UK development, citing its fit with the city's "Outdoor City" identity. Public consultation on the plans is due to start in September 2026, ahead of a planning application expected later in the year, with updates available via the project's dedicated website.
