Sheffield street likened to a “mountain road” resurfaced after five years
Hinde House Crescent on Sheffield's Waverley Estate has begun a two-week resurfacing programme following years of deteriorating road conditions. Residents endured extensive potholes—described as occurring every 30 centimetres—that resulted in damaged wheels and lost tyres, whilst also affecting access to nearby schools. Ward councillor Mustafa Ahmed had campaigned for repairs since before his May 2026 election.
Work crews arrived on 3 August after Ahmed arranged a mid-July site visit with Ajman Ali, Sheffield City Council's executive director of neighbourhood services, which reportedly expedited the repairs. Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the outcome and has identified his next priority: securing a zebra crossing near Wensley Street playground to improve pedestrian safety in the area.
