Sheffield United are set to receive a payment after former academy striker Will Lankshear completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Championship rivals Middlesbrough. The windfall stems from a sell-on clause included when the Blades sold him to Tottenham in 2022, providing useful funds during the club’s summer rebuild.

Middlesbrough have reportedly agreed to pay £8 million up front for Lankshear, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the deal to £20 million. The 21-year-old made only limited first-team appearances for Tottenham but impressed during a loan spell at Oxford United, while Tottenham have retained their own future sell-on clause and matching rights.
