Sheffield United have signed midfielder Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City on a permanent, one-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The move follows a successful loan spell at the Blades in the second half of last season, and manager Chris Wilder said signing him was made a priority after injuries left the club needing more competition at right-back.

Choudhury, 28, spent 11 seasons with Leicester after progressing through their academy, making 166 appearances and winning the Premier League in 2015-16 as well as the FA Cup in 2021. During his loan at Sheffield United he made 16 league appearances, including the Championship play-off final loss to Sunderland, with Wilder describing him as "arguably our best player" over that stretch. The Bangladesh international, who also played under Wilder on loan at Watford in 2022-23, said leaving Leicester after 20 years was a big change for him and his family but one he is looking forward to.
