A Sheffield United midfielder faced court today after admitting to operating a vehicle whilst substantially over the legal alcohol limit. Sydie Peck's breath sample contained 57 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres, compared to the 35 microgramme limit for drivers. The 21-year-old was handed financial penalties totalling £9,085 and prohibited from driving for 13 months.

Peck developed through Arsenal's youth system before joining Sheffield United in 2021, where he has established himself as a popular centre-midfielder and earned England U21 selection. The incident occurred on 28 May on Queens Road in Sheffield. He featured in a pre-season friendly match earlier on the day of sentencing before attending court.
