A three-year-old girl was allegedly the target of an attempted abduction by a stranger in the car park of a KFC in Logan Central, Queensland, on Thursday. The toddler's grandfather, who witnessed the incident, has since spoken publicly about the ordeal, describing how he and other family members intervened to free the child and detain the woman until police arrived. The case has drawn attention as a rare and alarming instance of an alleged snatch attempt in a public, everyday setting.

According to the grandfather, he and his wife were returning the girl to her parents and were waiting in their cars while her father collected food. He said he saw a woman approach in his rear-view mirror before she allegedly tried to unbuckle the child and pull her from her seat, prompting a scream. The family, including the girl's mother and son-in-law, managed to rescue the child and hold the woman down in a citizen's arrest, with footage showing two police officers pinning the 40-year-old woman to the ground. The child reportedly suffered scratch marks but was otherwise unharmed, while the woman was taken to hospital and is expected to be charged.
