‘Shrek 5’ Officially Score Its Biggest Update Yet After a 16-Year Wait
DreamWorks’ ‘Shrek 5’ has completed its main voice-recording sessions, marking a significant production milestone ahead of its planned release less than a year from now. The update indicates that the long-delayed sequel, arriving 16 years after ‘Shrek Forever After’, has moved into a later stage of development while retaining its core cast.
Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are returning as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona, with Zendaya, Skyler Gisondo and Marcello Hernández playing the couple’s now-grown children. Director Conrad Vernon said the story will involve a new location called Further, Further Away, and that several additional cast members have not yet been announced; the full plot remains undisclosed.
