Silent Hill 2 Patch Broke Remake on PS5 Pro, and Konami Is Investigating

Push Square · 17 hours ago

Konami has acknowledged a new visual problem affecting Silent Hill 2 Remake on PS5 Pro after a patch intended to improve the game’s graphics. The update substantially improves upscaling quality at 60fps using Sony’s revised PSSR2 technology, but introduces overly dark, “crushed” shadows in Performance Mode; Konami says it is investigating possible solutions.

The patch is approximately 6GB and targets long-standing PS5 Pro image-quality concerns with Bloober Team’s remake. Reports and screenshots indicate the shadow issue is limited to Performance Mode, while Quality Mode avoids it but runs at 30fps, leaving players to choose between smoother performance and more accurate dark detail.
