First-person perspective transforms Silent Hill: Townfall’s survival horror formula
Developed over time first seen 10 hours ago
Silent Hill: Townfall, the upcoming survival horror instalment from developer Screen Burn Interactive, has been confirmed to break with series tradition by adopting a first-person perspective, centred on new protagonist Simon Ordell in the fog-bound town of St Amelia. The change marks one of the most significant structural departures in the long-running franchise's history, and early hands-on previews indicate the studio has managed to introduce this mechanical shift without losing the psychological tension that has long defined the series.
Among the notable additions is a portable CRT television mechanic, which serves a similar warning function to the radios used to signal danger in earlier games, reworked to suit the first-person viewpoint. The development team has also confirmed a deliberately ambiguous narrative approach, intended to provoke debate among players and encourage repeat engagement with the story after release.
- Silent Hill: Townfall moves the series to a first-person perspective.
- New protagonist Simon Ordell explores the town of St Amelia.
- A CRT television mechanic replaces the series' traditional radio device.
