SimCity SNES Soundtrack Makes A Surprise Return In This Week’s Nintendo Music Update

Nintendo Life · 3 hours ago

Nintendo has added the SimCity SNES soundtrack to its Nintendo Music app for Switch Online members, a welcome surprise given that the 1991 Super Nintendo city-building game itself remains unavailable on the service's SNES library. The update revives interest in the classic Will Wright title, which Nintendo published and helped Maxis develop, and reintroduces its score composed by Soyo Oka, known for her work on Super Mario Kart and other Nintendo titles.

The soundtrack comprises 21 tracks with a total runtime of around 23 minutes, including pieces such as "Title Screen," "Dr. Wright," "Metropolis" and "Population of 600,000." SimCity previously appeared on the Wii's Virtual Console before being removed, and it is not currently part of Nintendo Classics; Nintendo says it will share any updates on the game's future availability. The addition follows an earlier update this week that added Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World Free Roam music from Mario Kart World.
