Neil Diamond has reflected on his career 60 years after the release of his debut album, The Feel of Neil Diamond, marking the transition from behind-the-scenes songwriter to celebrated performer. The 1966 album, which included early hits such as "Solitary Man" and "Cherry Cherry", launched a career that would establish Diamond as one of pop music's most successful and beloved singer-songwriters, blending commercial success with lasting cultural impact through songs including "Sweet Caroline".

Diamond, now 85, has charted 53 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and 18 top-10 albums on the Billboard 200, ranking second on Billboard's Greatest Adult Contemporary Artists of All Time list, and has sold more than 130 million albums. He stopped touring in 2018 following a Parkinson's disease diagnosis, but his legacy continues through the Broadway musical A Beautiful Noise, the 2025 film Song Sung Blue starring Hugh Jackman, and Wild at Heart, the latest instalment of his Rick Rubin-produced recordings released in May.
