Plans to redevelop Sheffield’s former Ski Village at Parkwood Springs have advanced after New Zealand adventure tourism company Skyline Enterprises agreed a deal with Sheffield City Council. The project could bring new leisure facilities to a site closed since a 2012 fire, supporting the city’s “Outdoor City” identity and broader investment in the surrounding country park.

Proposals include a luge ride and family playground, with a zipline and surf-wave attraction planned longer term. The scheme is supported by a £19.4m government Levelling Up grant, while the council has allocated £12m for nearby road and junction improvements; a public consultation is expected in September before a planning application later this year.
