SkyShowtime has commissioned a new Spanish original limited drama, *Death in Llanes* (*Muerte en Llanes*), a six-part series based on the real-life murder investigation into politician Javier Ardines. The project matters because it expands SkyShowtime’s push into local-language European productions while turning a high-profile Spanish criminal case into a prestige thriller for audiences in Spain and internationally.

The series stars Javier Gutiérrez, María Vázquez and Isak Férriz, and is being produced by K 2000 with 100 Balas for SkyShowtime. It is adapted from the podcast *The Two Deaths of Javier Ardines* and dramatises the 2018 case in which Ardines was found dead 100 metres from his home, with the investigation said to involve political rivalries, rigged examinations, personal conflicts and an eventual twist involving an alleged love triangle. Created and written by Jesús Mesas Silva and directed by Gerardo Olivares, the series is currently in production, with SkyShowtime available in more than 20 markets as the Paramount-Comcast European streaming joint venture.
