In a brief first drive, it appeared straightforward and pleasant to use around town, suggesting the “anti-truck” concept may deliver on its promise despite some unfinished-feeling materials.

The single-motor model produces 181 horsepower, has an estimated range of up to 205 miles, can tow 2,000lb and carry 1,550lb in its five-foot bed. It starts at $24,950, above its originally proposed sub-$20,000 price, while buyers can add vinyl wraps or a $5,000 DIY SUV conversion kit with rear seats and a hard top. The reviewer found its acceleration adequate at lower speeds and its controls notably simple, though it is not designed to be fast.
