‘SNL UK’ Fans Are Missing This Unsettling 4-Minute Horror Comedy From 2 of Its Stars
‘SNL UK’ cast members Paddy Young and Jack Shep previously starred together in *This Place is a Sh*thole*, a nearly four-minute horror comedy about the grim realities of living in an expensive, filthy shared flat. The short’s blend of flatshare frustrations, dark humour and creature horror has drawn attention as the pair gain recognition on the new series.
Written and directed by Will Wightman, the film begins with the roommates arguing over their dirty kitchen before a hairy monster emerges from the sink. Wightman shot it entirely on an Insta360 camera to create a distorted, claustrophobic feel. The short won a Dark Comedy Short award at the 2026 Indie Short Fest and was selected for several other festivals, including Norwich and Encounters.

Explained simply
Saturday Night Live UK is a British version of the long-running American sketch comedy programme, featuring a cast of performers in live comedy sketches. Paddy Young and Jack Shep are two of its cast members, and they had worked together before joining the series.
Their earlier short film, This Place is a Sh*thole, turns familiar shared-flat problems, such as a dirty kitchen and high living costs, into a horror comedy. Written and directed by Will Wightman, it uses a distorted, close-up camera style to make the flat feel cramped as a monster appears in the sink.
