Sheffield residents have criticised Amey over the condition of local roads and the standard of its pothole repairs, describing some streets as resembling a “moonscape”. The complaints have intensified concerns about whether the company is responding adequately under its long-term road-maintenance contract with Sheffield City Council.

More than 3,000 potholes reportedly required repairs after winter, while residents said temporary fixes were deteriorating quickly and that responses from Amey felt dismissive. Amey said it would increase repair capacity, add teams and prioritise the most urgent defects, but campaigners and local politicians called for faster, more durable work and clearer communication.
