Son stabs his mother to death and walks into pub bare-chested – ‘I killed her’
Graham Daly, 45, has been given an indefinite hospital order after admitting the manslaughter of his mother, Phyllis Daly, by diminished responsibility. He killed her at their home in Maghull, Merseyside, during a psychotic episode, then went to a pub, where he told staff, “I killed her”, and threatened a member of staff.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that the attack took place on 13 July 2025, while Daly’s father was out. Phyllis, 70, was found dead on the kitchen floor after being attacked with at least two weapons, including knives and scissors. Doctors said cannabis could have worsened Daly’s psychotic symptoms, though his condition was not explained solely by intoxication; the judge described him as a dangerous offender.
