Sonic the Hedgehog is set to join Fortnite as part of a new in-game zone, marking another high-profile crossover for Epic Games' battle royale title. The collaboration ties into Sonic's ongoing 35th anniversary celebrations, following recent hints from Sonic Team's boss that further anniversary surprises were on the way.

Official Sonic accounts teased the crossover with a video featuring the character alongside Fortnite's Peely, showcasing the new zone ahead of its arrival on 20th August 2026. The trailer opens with the Imagined Order logo from Fortnite's ongoing story and confirms the content will launch as part of Chapter 7, Season 4, subtitled "Override", which is billed as set to "break the rules" and "change the game". Reports suggest several other video game collaborations are also planned for the same season.
