Sonic the Hedgehog Shows Up in New Angry Birds 3 Trailer for Some Reason
Sonic the Hedgehog appears as a cameo in a new trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, running through a forest alongside Chuck. The unexpected crossover reflects Paramount’s involvement in the film, as it now leads the Angry Birds movies and holds the film rights to Sonic in partnership with Sega.
The trailer shows Chuck, voiced by Josh Gad, laughing with Sonic during unexplained antics. Jason Sudeikis returns as Red, while John Rice directs after co-directing the second film and working as storyboard artist on the first. The film is due in cinemas on 23 December; Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for 19 March.

Explained simply

Sonic the Hedgehog is a video-game character created by Sega, and has also appeared in films. Paramount is involved with both the Angry Birds films and the Sonic film series, whose rights it holds in partnership with Sega. That shared involvement provides context for Sonic’s appearance alongside Chuck in the trailer.
