Sonos brings tab navigation, speaker sorting and more to its app

Engadget · 1 month ago

Sonos has released an app update introducing several quality-of-life improvements, including optional tab navigation and speaker sorting options. The changes aim to make it quicker to reach key features and manage larger multi-room setups, marking a further step in the app's recovery after a badly received 2024 redesign that prompted a change in company leadership.

The tabbed navigation, enabled via an "Enable Improved Navigation" setting, gives one-tap access to system, search and home screens. The system tab lets users sort speakers and headphones alphabetically, by frequency of use or by current playback, and pin favourites to the top of the list. Additional changes include a redesigned volume slider and album-art-matched backgrounds on iOS, plus the ability to swipe to remove favourites, alongside general bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is rolling out gradually over a couple of weeks.
