Sonos opens AI voice assistant trial to approved US users on 6 November
Sonos will begin limited early access to its new voice assistant, Sonos 27voice, on 6 November. The company says the feature is designed to understand natural language, handle music requests and answer general knowledge questions, bringing it closer to newer AI assistants.
Users must request access in the Sonos app and be approved. The trial is limited to the US and English, with a full release planned for 2027; it is available only on hardware running Sonos S2. This week’s update also adds Presets for saving playback settings and System Health for checking speaker connections and Wi-Fi details.
In short
- Sonos 27voice early access starts on 6 November.
- The trial is limited to approved US users speaking English.
- A full release is planned for 2027.
Explained simply
Sonos is a US company that makes wireless speakers and home audio systems, which people can control through its app or by speaking to them. Its existing voice features focus on playing and managing music; newer AI assistants can also respond to questions in everyday language.
The trial is limited to approved users in the US and to systems running Sonos S2, the company’s current software platform for many of its products. Sonos says wider availability is planned for 2027, so the trial will give only some users an early chance to try the assistant.
