Sony Employee Impersonator Sentenced to 6.5 Years in Prison for Fake Artist Bookings
Meceo Ray McEaddy was sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison for impersonating a Sony Music Latin executive and defrauding event bookers. The case highlights how false claims of access to famous performers were used to secure large payments for concert slots that did not exist.
From 2018, McEaddy persuaded 20 people to wire him a total of $1.2 million, and prosecutors said he forged a musician’s signature. He pleaded guilty to fraud and aggravated identity theft after being indicted in 2025. The judge also ordered three years of supervised release and repayment of the $1.2 million; McEaddy had previously served four years for a similar scheme.
In short
- McEaddy received a six-and-a-half-year federal sentence.
- Twenty victims paid $1.2 million for nonexistent concert bookings.
- He must repay the money and serve three years of supervised release.
