Sony’s translucent PS5 controllers and covers go on sale in February 2027
Sony has announced the Prism Collection, a range of translucent DualSense controllers and matching PS5 console covers. The design recalls the see-through electronics popular in the late 1990s, while offering a modern look that exposes some internal components.
The collection comes in flare orange, emerald green and graphite grey. Pre-orders open on 10 November, with products due to go on sale on 4 February 2027; controllers cost $84.99 and console covers $74.99. The launch follows Microsoft’s announcement earlier this year of translucent green Xbox accessories for the console’s 25th anniversary.
In short
- Sony is bringing translucent designs to PS5 accessories.
- Three colours are planned, with sales starting in February 2027.
- Controllers cost $84.99; console covers are $74.99.
Explained simply
The PlayStation 5 is Sony’s home video game console, and its DualSense controller is the handheld device used to play games on it. Owners can also change the console’s outer covers, so accessories can alter the look of the hardware without changing how it works.
Translucent electronics, which let people see some components beneath the casing, were popular in the late 1990s and have returned in some recent designs. Microsoft has also announced see-through green accessories for Xbox, linking its release to the console’s 25th anniversary.
