Sony's dine-in chain Alamo Drafthouse is expected to help operate the reopened site, though a reopening date and full terms are still being worked out. The move would matter for the wider industry, given the Arclight's former status as a key launch pad for independent and awards-season films, and comes as the domestic box office enjoys its strongest year since 2019.

New detail also confirms the Forman family, which owns the property through Decurion, wants to retain ownership even as it seeks an operator, and has previously held talks with other potential partners including AMC and Amazon MGM Studios, both of which passed. Due to Decurion's Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings, the "Arclight" name cannot be reused for any future version of the site. The Sunset Boulevard venue, built in 1963, was previously run by Pacific Theatres and Arclight before a planned 2021 reopening collapsed alongside the parent group's bankruptcy, with other former Arclight locations since taken over by Regal, Amazon and AMC.
