Sony may be reassessing its plan to end PlayStation disc production after reportedly sending developers an unusually large survey seeking feedback on physical game sales. The report, from YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead, has not been independently confirmed, but follows industry criticism and public backlash over the proposed change.

Sony announced in July that disc production would begin winding down in early 2028 because of declining physical sales and consumers’ preference for digital games. It later clarified that output would fall by 10% in 2028, rather than being reduced to 10% immediately; although a complete reversal seems unlikely, feedback could influence the timetable or whether some future releases remain available physically.
