Sony has taken an unusual approach to refreshing its headphone lineup by reviving the well-regarded WH-1000XM4 rather than launching an all-new upper-midrange model. The reissued version, dubbed the WH-1000XM4C, keeps the original's design and core features but adds Sony's newer sound profile and EQ options, arriving this autumn at $300 — undercutting both the original 2020 launch price and the current flagship WH-1000XM6. Alongside it, Sony is also introducing two new budget-friendly models this month, rounding out a refreshed lineup at multiple price points.

The WH-1000XM4C retains the QN1 noise-cancelling chip and multipoint Bluetooth, though battery life drops slightly to 27 hours with ANC on, offset by a faster quick-charge feature. Sony is also launching the WH-CH730N ($180), a successor to the WH-CH720N with a redesigned build, improved ANC and up to 50 hours of battery life, and the entry-level WH-CH530 ($70), which lacks ANC but gains improved sound and five extra hours of battery over its predecessor. Both budget models also include new safe-listening features to help users monitor volume exposure over time.
