Sophia Anne Caruso To Star In Duncan Sheik’s ‘Memoirs Of Amorous Gentlemen’ Stage Musical Adaptation
Sophia Anne Caruso will lead a new Off-Broadway musical adaptation of Moyoco Anno’s manga Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen. The production is notable as the first manga to be developed into an English-language American musical, and will reunite prominent theatre talent including composer Duncan Sheik and director-choreographer Rob Ashford.
Previews begin on 25 September at The Night Egg at the Culture Club, a new Chelsea venue in the former Sleep No More site, with opening night on 15 October and a run until 3 January 2027. Caruso plays Colette, a young writer in 20th-century Paris whose work at the Night Egg brothel helps her turn clients’ stories into art while confronting a damaging attachment to her childhood love, Léon; the creative team also includes Scott Pask, Catherine Zuber, Brian Tovar, Cody Spencer and Tom Watson.
