Saber Interactive has said it will add an AI disclosure to the Steam page for Rideshare Stimulator after criticism over the game’s use of generative technology. The move matters because Steam requires developers to disclose player-visible or in-game AI, and the controversy has raised broader concerns about whether AI is replacing creative workers in game development.

Chief executive Matthew Karch said the game’s Free Ride mode uses generative speech and text to create an effectively unlimited set of characters, but described it as experimental and separate from the core game. He said Saber hired two writers and several programmers for the feature, arguing it cost more than omitting it, while former writer Stella Sacco maintained she had been removed in 2023 with the intention of being replaced by AI; Karch disputed that account and said Saber’s writing staff has since grown.
