SpaceX has completed its acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor, bringing the company formally into Elon Musk’s space and technology group. The deal matters because Cursor is expected to use SpaceX’s large-scale computing infrastructure to develop and deploy AI tools, strengthening SpaceX’s broader ambitions in artificial intelligence.

SpaceX announced a technology partnership with Cursor in April 2026, including an option to buy the startup for $60 billion, and confirmed in June that it would proceed after SpaceX became public. Cursor said it will gain access to what it described as the world’s largest GPU fleet; SpaceX has also acquired xAI this year and rents computing capacity to customers including Anthropic and Google, while facing a lawsuit concerning pollution from data-centre gas turbines.
