Speedo has unveiled SpeedoIQ, a removable swim-tracking module designed to fit inside its latest Vanquisher goggles. The platform aims to challenge established smart-goggle makers by providing swimmers with post-session analysis and coaching information, while its approval for use in World Aquatics competitions could make it particularly relevant to competitive athletes.

SpeedoIQ tracks pace, distance, breathing, head position, turns and multiple stroke types, with results synced to a companion app after swimming. Unlike some rivals, it does not use a heads-up display during a session and instead presents data afterwards; Speedo says this avoids distracting users. The system will not require a subscription, but Speedo has not announced a price or release date.
