Reality television personality Spencer Pratt, who recently mounted an unsuccessful campaign for Los Angeles mayor, released an online video opposing state legal action targeting Paramount. A coalition of 12 state attorneys general, spearheaded by California, has initiated proceedings to prevent Paramount's proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery valued at approximately $110 billion, with a federal judge having temporarily halted the transaction pending litigation.

Pratt directed particular criticism at California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta, characterising their involvement in the lawsuit as politically motivated rather than based on legitimate antitrust concerns. He alleged that these officials have simultaneously undermined the film industry through policy decisions affecting production tax credits and incentives, making their effort to block Paramount's investment appear contradictory and counterproductive. Pratt contended that government should facilitate rather than obstruct major studio operations, framing the lawsuit as an impediment to industry recovery.
