Spice Girls’ Melanie C Talks Victoria Beckham’s Absence From Wedding, Her ‘Little Chat’ With Emma Bunton About Wearing White
Spice Girls star Melanie C has explained why Victoria Beckham missed her wedding to Chris Dingwall on 18 July at the Country House Cumbria in England's Lake District. Speaking to Sydney radio station KIIS 1065, Chisholm said Beckham was disappointed to be absent but was in New York with husband David for the FIFA World Cup third-place match, where England beat France 6-4, as David had ambassadorial commitments. Bandmates Mel B, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Emma Bunton all attended, and Chisholm said Beckham stayed in close contact throughout the day via messages and photos.
Despite missing the ceremony, Beckham contributed by designing Chisholm's ivory slip wedding dress with hand-stitched floral lace appliqués, and had earlier lent her a dress for the couple's legal ceremony in Australia. Chisholm, 52, also addressed Halliwell-Horner wearing white to the wedding, saying she had a "little chat" and a giggle with her about it, noting white is Geri's everyday colour. She confirmed the pair later caught up in person in Ibiza, and clarified that, despite speculation, several Spice Girls songs were in fact played at the celebration.
