Spider-Man and The Odyssey to share IMAX screens from Thursday

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is to join The Odyssey on IMAX screens across North America from Thursday 6th August, after the two films drove the biggest weekend in US box office history. IMAX confirmed the move on Monday, timed to coincide with the end of The Odyssey's exclusive three-weekend IMAX run, which frees up screens for the pair to play side by side rather than compete for the same slots.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken $355 million since its 31st July release, the second-biggest North American opening since Avengers: Endgame in 2019, while Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey added a further $51 million weeks after its own premiere. Together with Toy Story 5, Moana and Minions & Monsters, the two films helped push the overall weekend total to a record $430 million. The Odyssey has now earned $221 million at the global IMAX box office, making July IMAX's highest-grossing month ever, with IMAX noting it is the only film to have driven multiple $40 million-plus weekends worldwide.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Marvel's latest instalment in its ongoing film franchise, released on 31st July, while The Odyssey is director Christopher Nolan's new film, which had already been playing in cinemas for a few weeks.
