Spider-Man Brand New Day cameo could be the MCU’s next spider hero

Polygon · 3 hours ago

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland's fourth solo outing as the web-slinger, is now in cinemas to strong reviews and has passed $1 billion at the box office. Alongside the main plot, fans have spotted what may be a significant cameo: a minor character credited only as "Cindy," played by Shannon Young Cho, who many believe is actually Cindy Moon, the comics hero known as Silk, raising the possibility that Marvel is quietly setting up Holland's eventual successor as the MCU's next spider-powered lead.

Cindy Moon has appeared in the MCU before, previously played by Tiffany Espensen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and the extended cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the comics, she was bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker in 2014 and, as Silk, produces organic webbing rather than using mechanical shooters, a trait Holland's Spider-Man now also displays in Brand New Day. With no Spider-Man 5 yet confirmed and Holland telling Empire he'd like to help "set up the next chapter" for a successor such as Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen or Spider-Woman, speculation is mounting that Silk could be a contender to take over the role.
