Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, has broken the record for the biggest Tuesday in domestic box office history, taking $42 million (£33 million) for Sony Pictures in North America. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has been shattering box office milestones since its release, underlining strong audience demand for big-budget theatrical releases even amid concerns about superhero fatigue following underperforming titles such as Supergirl.

The new Tuesday record surpasses the previous mark of $39.2 million, also held by Sony's Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. It followed a record-breaking Monday and made Brand New Day the fastest film ever to reach $400 million domestically, achieving this in just four days for a North American total of $449 million. The film also narrowly beat Avengers: Endgame's domestic opening weekend record with $360 million, became the second-fastest title to cross $1 billion globally, and holds a 90 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
