Spider-Man: Brand New Day narrowly held off Christopher Nolan's Odyssey at the global box office over the weekend, taking $66.2m against $62.9m, as Universal became the first studio in 2026 to pass $3 billion overseas. The milestone underlines a strong year for the studio, which had already become the first to cross $4 billion worldwide in 2026, while Nolan's epic has emerged as his highest-grossing film to date.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's fifth weekend pushed its global total to $2.33 billion, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time, with China, the UK and Mexico its top markets. Odyssey stands at $1.55 billion after seven weekends and has become the sixth-biggest Hollywood release ever in South Korea, while Sony's Insidious: Out of the Further added $28.8m to reach $110.2m globally. Elsewhere, Disney's Dog Stars, starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, underwhelmed with a $19.3m global opening against a $70m production budget.
