Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has said she hopes Tom Holland will play the web-slinger "forever", even though the actor has repeatedly discussed passing the role on to a younger star. The comments come as Holland's latest outing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is set for release this month, with Sony apparently keen to keep him in the role given the film's trailer has already broken viewing records.

Holland, now 30, first took on the role aged 19 in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and has previously joked that continuing past 30 would mean he'd "done something wrong" — though he has since said he'd need to revise that to age 37. He has publicly floated successors including Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, and more recently Adolescence actor Owen Cooper, while privately suggesting he will return for at least one more sequel. Pascal, who has worked on the franchise with Marvel's Kevin Feige for 27 years, insisted each film must stand alone but reiterated her wish for Holland to remain Spider-Man long-term, with fans widely expecting him to also appear in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
