Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys will attend this year’s Emmys as nominees for separate projects, marking a notable milestone for the long-term couple after their earlier awards-season association with “The Americans”. Russell is nominated for playing a morally conflicted ambassador in “The Diplomat”, while Rhys is recognised for roles in “Widow’s Bay” and “The Beast in Me”, alongside producing nominations for both actors.

Together, they have received five nominations and gave a rare joint interview while on a break in upstate New York after Russell finished filming the fourth season of “The Diplomat”. They also revisited Rhys’s 2018 Emmy win, when he joked that Russell would punch him if he proposed on stage; eight years later, they remain unmarried and say they prefer to keep their relationship private, while Rhys’s Apple TV horror-comedy “Widow’s Bay” has become an unexpected awards contender.
