Spotify Furthers Video Integration With Global Music Video Charts, Full-Length Uploads

Billboard · 5 hours ago

Spotify has announced a set of new video features, including a global Music Video Charts ranking, expanded full-length video uploads for artists, and a pitching tool to get videos considered for the platform's editorial playlists. The move, revealed on 21 July, reflects Spotify's push to deepen video integration after internal research found watching an official music video or live performance made listeners significantly more likely to engage further with an artist's music.

According to Spotify's press release, viewers were 64% more likely to stream a song after watching its video, 1.4 times more likely to save or share it, and 57% more likely to explore the rest of an artist's catalogue. The new Music Video Charts Global will rank the top 50 videos by daily streams, with the top 10 highlighted weekly every Tuesday via Spotify and Spotify for Artists; new video-specific playlists include Best New Videos, Today's Top Videos, Live Performances and House Party. This follows other recent moves by Spotify, such as its AI covers and remixes licensing deal with Universal Music Group and the Live Nation-partnered Spotify Reserved ticketing scheme.
