Spotify launches native in-car app for select Audi models
Spotify has launched its first fully native in-car app, built for Google’s Android Automotive system and initially available in select Audi models. It runs on the car’s own infotainment hardware, giving Spotify direct control over the interface and offering an alternative to connecting a phone through CarPlay or Android Auto.
The app is coming to Audi’s electric A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, and petrol-powered A5, Q5 and A6 models. Spotify says 34 per cent of its monthly active users and 77 per cent of its Premium subscribers stream in cars. The company says it remains committed to phone projection, while the native app aims to offer a more consistent experience without connection or start-up delays.
