Spotify has introduced ‘User Notes’, allowing listeners to attach personal memories or captions to individual songs in playlists. The feature is intended to make playlists more meaningful and may help Spotify stand out from competing music services by adding a journalling-style layer to music listening.

Users can add a note through a song’s three-dot menu in playlists they created or contributed to, and saved notes are visible to anyone who can view that playlist, with the author’s name linked to their profile. User Notes is available to people aged 16 and over on free and premium plans in selected markets; Spotify also announced a premium-only Running Mode in selected countries.
