Spy x Family has reached a bestseller milestone as fans await the next season of its anime adaptation: Volume 16 ranked sixth on The New York Times’ Graphic Books and Manga list. The ranking reflects continuing interest in Tatsuya Endo’s series about a family whose members each conceal unusual identities.

The Japanese edition has published 17 volumes, with Volume 18 due next month, while the English edition has reached Volume 16. Spy x Family is a Japanese manga series by Tatsuya Endo, also adapted into an anime. It centres on a family formed around a secret mission: spy Loid Forger, assassin Yor and their adopted daughter Anya each hide important parts of their lives from the others.

The story is set amid tensions between two fictional countries, where Loid’s work involves preventing conflict. Anya can read minds, while Yor’s job and Loid’s identity put the family’s everyday life alongside espionage and danger.

The manga is published in collected volumes, with Japanese and English editions sometimes at different points in their release. Its popularity across print and television helps explain why readers are following the series while the anime continues.
