Square Enix can’t confirm a Final Fantasy 7 Revelation physical disc, but at least game director Hamaguchi is pushing for one

Eurogamer · 2 hours ago

Square Enix has not yet confirmed whether Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final instalment of its remake trilogy, will receive a physical disc release when it launches in spring 2027. The uncertainty matters to collectors and players who prefer boxed games, particularly as Sony is expected to stop producing physical PlayStation discs roughly a year later.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi said the company is still deciding the game’s product line-up, but that he is seeking to make a physical edition possible. Storage limits across platforms are part of the discussion; the previous two remake entries, Remake and Rebirth, each required multiple discs, while other major forthcoming releases such as GTA 6 are also expected to forgo physical discs.
