Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s meaty 2.0 update brings functional fog, a suite of A-Life improvements, and more when it arrives next week

GSC Game World will release Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s free 2.0 update on 20 August, introducing visual, gameplay and modding changes. The update matters because it aims to make the game’s world feel more believable and adjustable, while adding new tools and content alongside the Cost of Hope expansion.

Lighting, landscapes, foliage and rainy weather have been improved, and hundreds of floating objects have been corrected. The A-Life system will give creatures and stalkers more varied behaviour, while fog will reduce sight and hearing for both players and enemies; players will also gain custom rules, three binocular types, new weapons and scopes, expanded statistics, and modding support for narrative scripting, audio and localisation.

  • Stalker 2’s 2.0 update arrives on 20 August.
  • A-Life and fog mechanics are being expanded.
  • Players gain custom difficulty, equipment and modding tools.
